My name is Mikayla Verni, I’m a 17 year old Catcher, First Baseman, and Outfielder from Gilroy, California. Ever since I was little I loved being on the field, I loved being a team player and a leader. When I play this game I feel away from reality, it feels almost as if it’s an escape for me. And to me, it’s more than just a game. I’ve always had a bright and bubbly personality, that’s been in my attributes since I was a little girl. Being a Catcher, that comes with natural leadership, you have the best view of the field and are like the quarterback of the softball field. I like to say that I am a great teammate and always lifting my peers up during their highs and their lows.
Throughout college I am hoping to take my athletic ability to the next level. To connect with new teammates and learn more about myself as a player and as a person as well. I am hoping to study Criminal Justice. The law has been in interest to me for a very long time. I love the idea of being in Law Enforcement and being able to protect my peers. I want to become a cop when I am older, then with years of experience I want to move up into the FBI. I think with the sport I play and even with the position I‘m in, it gives me that ability of direction and leadership that I can bring into my career choice.
