Hi, my name is Colin Overstreet and I have lived in Calabasas, California my entire life. Unlike most of my teammates in the Chaminade football program, I did not start playing football until Freshman year. This disposition in the highly competitive Los Angeles area became a steep learning curve as I was competing for starting spots against guys who had been playing in youth football leagues since they were in fourth grade. I spent extra time everyday learning coverages, techniques, and fundamentals that were all brand new to me. Despite my distinct disadvantage, I have been working hard to move up the ladder at my high school. Going from the Freshman team, to JV, to backing up Varsity, to finally starting for the team this year means so much to me. Since 2011, I have fallen in love with the sport of football. Before high school began, I barely knew the sport and was instead playing basketball and lacrosse, but the camaraderie and the brotherhood that I experienced my freshman year made football my main sport almost instantaneously. It is the feeling of coming together with my brothers to become something greater then ourselves that drives me to play in college.
