Caleb Schmutzer '21 Recruiting Profile

BACKGROUND: When I graduate from HS, I'll have played football for ten years.  I am well-respected as a defensive player, and I believe coaches throughout my tenure would all speak very highly of my abilities and my character. I am known for my strength, my physical endurance, and my conditioning.

CANDIDACY: I love the game and I know it well. My goal is to earn a collegiate scholarship with a competitive program. I am regarded as a team leader and coaches routinely look to me to guide other players.  I was one of three Sophomores that played every Varsity game in the 2018 season.  I'm often told I have a "good nose for the ball," and I feel I'd be an asset to any team that is seeking to improve its defensive strategies.  I learn fast and I am able to contribute well in many different schemes.  Edit: I finished my Junior Season Fall '19, and I led the team in tackles with 79. I also was able to get a personal best on bench press for 235 x 5.

DIFFERENCES: I'm fortunate to have grown up in a strong and healthy home, and to have had a strong foundation in classical education.  This shows up in my grades. I have been raised to have a deep personal commitment to my faith, to good morals, and to quality character above all else.  I push myself hard in athletic achievements - and besides football, I have set goals for myself in bodybuilding and discus.
