"Very coachable; Top praise for his respect for others; Unmatched athleticism and aptitude to quickly grasp and fluently execute what is asked of him; An exceptional but humble team-mate, athlete and sportsman; Work ethic, character & conduct is an example for all others; A proven go-to "clutch play" competitor who does all he can on and off the field to help his team and teammates succeed."
I’m Chris Rice and I’d like to share why you might be interested in me. These statements that were made by coaches and teammates mean a lot to me knowing they trust me and my hard work to make a positive impact for my teams, but there is more than just what can be seen on film, and on the scoreboard, or in my highlight reels, and even beyond what my coaches' thoughtful comments identify. What it comes down to for me is it has to start with the person I am, especially when no one is watching.
I work hard to be the right example through my words, my actions, my community and I do not take for granted that it is a privilege to be a student-athlete and that I must give 100% in both the weight-room and the classroom. My parents raised us to live with integrity, love, respect, and we know that our behaviors validate our character whether on the field, on the court, running track, in church, volunteering in the community, or while helping others achieve their dreams. They ask my brother and me, "What will stand out about you when someone speaks about you?"
My dream and goal is to be the next name that families talk about while watching college football on Saturdays, and NFL on Sundays…this has been my dream since I was 5 years old. You'll see in my profile I work VERY hard on performance and academics to be the athlete that teams want and need, but I also know that all of that has to be built on a good foundation. That starts with who I am and how I represent myself, my family, my church, my school, my teams, maybe even your team, your college, and your program. I know that everyone is always on interview whether by our body language, our influences, or our impact on others, and especially when you think no one is watching.
Everyone can make a positive difference and I work hard to be the person who does that with all that I do. It means a lot to me that my classmates, teammates, teachers and coaches say I'm a mentor and that they look to me as a leader in and out of the classroom and on and off of my sports teams. My films, my coaches, my training, my camps, my combines, all of it AMAZING and FUN and I am so grateful for these opportunities and will keep working HARD year around to be invited back since there is no substitute for working hard to improve football technique & IQ, but there should also be more than just what is seen on the field, on the court and on the track.
Please return to my profile throughout the year when you have time to see my latest updates towards my goals and know that I'll keep grinding on and off the field to be the best I can be.
Thank you,
Chris Rice
