I can remember from a young boy, that I always have had an interest in sports, whether it be playing them, or keeping up with sports stats, or dreaming about one day playing in college and professionally. I started off with tennis, then baseball, skiing, golf and then of course football, the sport that I now enjoying playing the most. Along with my dream of playing in college, I am also very interested in pursuing a career within sports management. With my love of sports, math, and strong knowledge in sports stats, I believe I would be a good fit for this career path.
I am a coachable person, which made it easier to learn how to long snap, something I had never done before prior to my junior year in high school. Starting in the spring of 2024, I attended Chris Rubio Long Snapping camps in Charlotte and Nashville, then in New Jersey in the fall of 2024 and Las Vegas in the winter of 2025. According to Coach Rubio, "Sebastian Ruggeri did really well at VEGAS XLV on January 18-19. He is a strong long snapper who uses his power efficiently. He snaps with very little wasted movement, making his overall form very smooth and repeatable. Sebastian was accurate and consistent throughout the whole weekend. He snaps a very catchable ball with a tight spiral, making life easy for punters and holders. His form is smooth, and really impressive. He does a great job of doing the same thing every single time with his snapping motion. Does a great job with his leg extension and getting his legs fully locked out helping him with his lower body power. Great attitude and his confidence grew throughout the weekend. Sebastian has all the tools locked down and I expect big things from him at the next Rubio Long Snapping Camp in his area."
I train with ex-University of Maryland long snapper Nate Adams twice a month. My ultimate goal of playing at the next level pushed me to stay motivated and focused on my training. I sought out additional opportunities to learn, including attending various camps at the University of Maryland and Temple University to improve my skills and gain more experience. I was very impressed with how I played this past year snapping with 100% success on punts, field goals, and extra points. My current average snap time is .81, and I working hard to reduce it each month.
In addition to playing varsity football at St. John’s, I also am a part of the Cadet Corps program, currently with the rank of staff sergeant. As the squad leader of 8 underclass cadets, I’ve enjoyed being their leader and I have learned many lessons in leadership and perseverance. These leadership lessons will be helpful for me to apply outside the classroom and on the football field.
I am not finished yet...I plan to continue training all year, including more camps with Chris Rubio (Las Vegas in January), with my personal coach Nate, and with my high school strength and speed coaches. I feel I am on the right path to play college football and I will be a valuable asset to your team and your university.
Thank you,
Sebastian Ruggeri
