I am Tyler Patterson from South Florida. I began working with professional kicking coaches at age 9. I have had the great privilege of working with Kohls Kicking, 4th down Solutions and 4th Down University. Please see the coach reference section of my profile to find contact information to private and school coaches that are happy to speak on my behalf. I became interested in kicking through soccer. I started playing soccer at age 4. My Father coached many of my soccer teams and noticed I had a big boot. He introduced me to my first Football coach at 9 years old. I have been a kicker ever since.
Through playing sports, I have learned that hard work pays off. Consistent training and the will to build on skill sets does indeed create excellence in athleticism. My academic goals in high school include maintaining a GPA of 3.75 or higher and participating in Duel Enrollment. My collegiate goals include earning a position as a college level Specialist. I plan to take a major and minor that will gear me towards spending my career in the sports world, possibly as a coach.
Some obstacles I have had to overcome to get where I am today are a diagnosis of ADHD and an associated stutter. I have worked side by side with my parents to learn focus techniques where a deficit is present. I have maintained Honor Roll since 8th grade. I have always taken standard or honors level classes. It is possible with hard work. The speech impediment is now almost completely nonexistent due to the utilization of speech therapy techniques.
A unique characteristic I possess is my drive and will be better. Not just better than the guy next to me but better than I was yesterday. Consistent week over week improvements is where I find my goals. Along with the ability to always remain coachable that drive is why I feel I have the potential to be an excellent college level athlete.
