Hi I’m Ricky Bryant Jr. I was born in Miami, FL and grew up in Florida City. I was raised with my parents until I was 10 years old and they separated.
I now live with David Watson, a man who I refer to as my uncle. He’s not my biological uncle but since he is responsible for helping me with my academic’s, took me into his home, and assisted me in becoming a better person he is deserving of that title. Had it not been for him taking the time to nurture, direct, discipline, and love me, there’s a great possibility that I wouldn’t be as skilled and well known as I am. He ensures that day in and day out I continuously strive to be the best version of myself as possible. To always remain focused, humble, and set goals. And when those goals are attained to set new goals. Constantly improving and bettering myself.
Both of my parents inspired me to do sports. My dad played basketball, football, and ran track. My mother also ran track as well as played soccer. Soccer was also my first sport. I primarily played defense. From there I played basketball which I stop playing due to ankle injuries I was experiencing. Then I began running track. In middle school where, I ran 22.9 seconds in the 200 meters and 11 seconds flat in the 100 meters.
In the midst of all of this, I was also playing football. This is my passion. I use to play D End because I use to be the biggest. Now everyone seemingly has hit their growth spurt, so I feel the need to prove that I’m still the baddest one on the field. No one can defend me. I will run past anyone. I will never get held on the line. I’m determined to put in the work both on and off of the field. Meaning my academics are just as important to me. And I will stand out in my classes as well.
It’s my dream to help my family, that’s all I want to do. Football has always been a dream of mine but seeing the people who I love and those that loved and nurtured me taken care of is also a part of that dream.
Thank you to all of the coaches and recruiters who took the time to read through my entire essay in an effort to get to know me. Please know that I will always give my full effort. I truly have a love for the game. I will be great! And I will always listen to your words and follow your direction. This is my passion, my dream, my future. I’m not saying this just because I want an offer but because I genuinely want to make it and I willing to give you everything on and off of the field.
Sincerely, THE GOAT
Ricky Bryant Jr.
