Personal Statement
I started playing baseball when I was 5 years old. My dad played baseball at West Point and was my coach for many years. I was naturally good at it and very strong. I hit my first home run over the fence at age 9 and never stopped. I really liked baseball, making all of the top teams for my age, and even played on a 13 yo. team at the age of 11. But, I never loved baseball.
When I started Middle School in 6th grade, I started to play football for my school - and I didn't just like football - I loved football. I was naturally gifted, which served me well on the field and a passion was born. Football gave me an opportunity to be an individual contributor, but more than anything, part of a team. I am by nature very physical and aggressive on the field. I never leave a game saying "I wish I had given just a little bit more." My coaches would describe me as tough - mentally and physically - and an extremely hard worker. I started my Varsity team as a Freshman and a Sophomore. It didn't matter where I played. I played, Fullback, Tight End, Defensive end and Lineback. I will learn a new position and give my all wherever my coach and my team needs me to play. I am versatile but prefer playing linebacker, because of the leadership of the position and the mental and physical intenseness required. My speed and quickness came in handy chasing down opponents and I have the reputation of being one of the hardest hitters from our rivals.
I have found that when you truly love something and have a passion for it, the harder you work. The harder you work the sweeter the payoff when you win. I want to continue to play football in college and contribute to a team and a school that will challenge me academically, physically and mentally. I am looking for a college that will help develop me into a better player, teammate, and man. Thank you for your time.
