Personal Statement
Aloha, my name is Chad Schmidt. I am a 5’6” 170-pound junior playing for PAC-5 on the Island of Oahu. Growing up I was always very athletic, and I’ve played most sports at least once, however football has become my passion I was influenced by both my father, who played high school and college football, and by my brother who also played football growing up. My freshman year of high school I was asked to move up from JV to Varsity. In my sophomore year I started on special teams and saw some significant playing time at the end of the year as running back where my coaches have commented that I “had found my new position”, and that I “showed great promise” and that they were excited for the following season. I worked my butt off in the weight room and with running and performing drills in order to be ready for my junior season. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, football was cancelled. Even though I haven’t been able to play, I have worked hard and maintained my strength and conditioning and am very hopeful to participate in my senior year of football. I’ve always been praised by my coaches for my hard work, dedication, and positive attitude in all of the sports that I’ve played. I believe this makes me a good asset for any program.
In terms of school, being that my parents as well as my older siblings, are college graduates, they’ve instilled in me the value of education. I’ve always pursued school how I pursue athletics, with hard work and dedication in order to succeed in all of my classes. I was also fortunate to go on a humanitarian trip to Tanzania where we helped locals build a school for a small village. This was a big eye opener to appreciate what I have and the opportunities that we have living in the United States. My favorite classes are science and math, and I would like to focus on that field of study in college, either majoring in dentistry, like my mother, or something in science engineering.
