Personal Statement
- My name is Rory Leavitt. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to play football. I am from Idaho Falls, Idaho where those in my high school football conference and small region have put out great players and coaches such as Marvin Lewis, Dirk Koetter, Larry Wilson, Meryl Hodge, Taysom Hill, others as starters last year and new members this year, and a few hours away, Leighton Vander Esch. Additionally, I look up to those underdogs that have persevered such as James Harrison and my first cousin who was undrafted, Dallin Leavitt, and just completed his fourth season with the Raiders. I further aspire to be a leader such as those mentioned and a college linebacker likened to that of Darius Leonard.
- I attend Butte College now. My high school was only in its fourth year of existence. My high school football conference is 5A (largest for Idaho) with four to Five teams (depending on enrollment for a given year-has and is changing) in my local conference and the best in the State with three going to State and two taking first and second place. These teams beat Boise and Utah teams, significantly. The program I am in has had significant challenges with being a new program and playing those strong state programs with sixty plus years of traditions. My team knows the value of student-athletes as we were deemed State Football Academic Champions. I am an Honor Student and strive to continue to improve. Outside of football, I enjoy golfing and snowboarding.
- I have learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership where we made it to the playoffs up against long-standing programs. During COVID, positions were without players. I stepped up to be a long-snapper, defensive-end, tight-end or wherever there was a hole that I could fulfill. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on a program. I believe that I have what it takes to be a leader in a competitive program. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with those programs that feel I can be an asset to their team.
