Hi my name is Dylan Landry, my football experience started when I was around 9 and
continued until I arrived at David Thibodaux Stem Magnet Academy (DTSMA). DTSMA didn’t
have a football team so I assumed that I would never play again. However my dad found a home
school organization called Acadiana Christian Academy (ACA) that would allow me to continue
playing football while attending DTSMA. At first I thought there wouldn’t be any competition
since it was just a homeschool football team and because rules in Louisiana prevented us from
playing high schools in Louisiana. But as time went on I realized that there was just as much if
not more competition than a regular high school team. We traveled around and even got to play
against schools in Texas that are arguably better than schools in Louisiana. And unlike regular
high schools we don’t have a gym to train in and get bigger so we all have to individually get
bigger and stronger. This taught me personal work ethic as I had no one in the off season to train
me and help me get stronger. I had to head to the gym and train myself.
Being a part of this organization also allowed me to travel around and meet new people
from different states. Although I was able to continue to play football I never really thought
about what would be next after high school. I guess I figured that after high school I would never
play football again and just focus on getting my undergraduate degree. Yet I've recently begun to
think that I may be able to play football while still working on my undergraduate degree. This
way I could continue to play a sport I loved while also potentially helping my parents in paying
college tuition. That’s why if the opportunity presented itself I would jump at the chance to play
college ball.
Sincerely, Dylan Michael Landry
