My freshman year our first game we lost terribly, and after that multiple seniors quit and I had to take the starting spot for our center who quit. Thes seniors who stayed mentored me on leadership and teamwork as well as not giving up. That season we ended up going 2-8. The next year I became more of a leader in our program but still was getting mentored and learning as much as I could from the new seniors in both leadership and football. We also got a new coach, who was considerably better then our previous one, and we basically had a whole new coaching staff as well. So everyone was adjusting to a new scheme and the coaches to new players and school. That season was also rough for us we went 2-8 again, but I learned so much more from my seniors and my coaches that year. Then this past year I took on full leadership of our program, I took control of the weight room drove many freshmen and sophomores home during summer workouts and sometimes during football season. I was the first one there everyday during summer and the last one to leave because I was always helping our coach with something. I enjoyed helping him adjust to the new facilities and just doing as much as I could so we could have a better season this year. That year we went 5-5! Most importantly we played as a team we understood what we had to do and had fun doing it. Now I'm excited for next year so we can do even better than this year, and prove a lot of people wrong, just like this year. We were only expected to win 1 game, but that drove all of us to work harder than ever.
In college, I want to keep challenging myself in all aspects of life, I take any opportunity I can to better my self or challenge myself against and with others. At Westminister I don’t have many people to help me challenge myself, I’m at the top of our weight records as a Junior, and I’m considered the best lineman we have, but I do have a couple of people that do challenge my skill as a lineman and they have made me better with the competition they created. In college I want more of a challenge in not only sports but in academics as well. I think the next level will not only make me a better player, but a better man, a harder worker, and will prepare me for my life ahead of me. I want to take my leadership skills I learned over the years and better them and share them with others, and become the best person i can be, and do anything it takes to get there.
