In the next year and a half I see myself in a college with both a great football and engineering programs. I would love to use my love for football and engineering to accomplish goals that will impact the rest of my live in a positive way. I started playing flag football in elementary school in a local league. I loved how I can use my natural athletic abilities to excel at it. After a few seasons of flag football, I wanted to take playing football a step further by enrolling in full contact football. I played in the Mid Maryland Youth Football league with the Columbia Ravens. There I was taught the fundamentals of ball carrying to proper defensive alignment. Learning the basics of football along with having tons of fun was a great segway into the next level of high school football.
Entering high school football, I found out that there was a lot of natural athletes like myself so I worked hard to excel myself past the rest. My sophomore year I was fortunate to play both sides of the ball. Through hard work and determination I was called up to play on Varsity as a cornerback. I noticed an immediate change in the speed of the game; however I was able to adjust to it quickly. At the end of the season I was honored to receive the JV MVP Award for my team. This was a great way to end the season and it fueled me even more to prepare for a full varsity season as a junior. I worked hard in the offseason. My parents hired a defensive back trainer to help me with technique and footwork. I continued to work hard during the season. My focus was on defense and made contributions throughout the season.
Entering my senior season I wish to make a name for myself on the field and academically. I am currently a member of the National Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars. I have maintained 3.71 GPA throughout my high school career. Without good grades, I will not be able to play football and reach my ultimate goals. I’ve realized how rare opportunities are to come by so that’s why I am willing to do whatever it takes to get that opportunity.
