Ben Martinez '28 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ben Martinez, and I am a running back with a 3.6 GPA and a deep passion for the game of football. My goal is to compete at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in finance. I am looking for a program where I can grow as a player, a student, and a person, and contribute to a team culture that values discipline, toughness, and leadership.

I currently serve on my team’s captains council, which has taught me how to lead not just through words but through action. I make it a priority to support my teammates, bring energy to every practice, and set the tone with how I prepare. I believe in holding myself to a high standard, and I try to inspire others to do the same.

One of my biggest motivators is proving people wrong. I have heard doubts and disrespect because of my height, but I use that as fuel. I work harder because of it. I study film, stay in the weight room, and focus on the details that help me gain every possible edge. I have learned that being underestimated can be a gift because it pushes me to show up every day with something to prove and the mindset to get better.

What separates me from other recruits is my hunger to improve beyond football. I see football as a tool to build discipline, mental toughness, and character. I want to be a successful football player, but I also want to leave college ready to succeed in life in business, in relationships, and in any challenge I face. I know that starts with who I am when no one is watching.
