I love the drive for excellence that my school, Brother Rice, has in its academics and athletics. Bill Walsh once said, "Champions act like champions before they are champions, they have a winning standard of performance before they are winners." This is how to act, look, and perform in front of anyone you can have an impression on -- working to and at the standard of a State Championship team, regardless of the outcome. I not only apply this quote to sports alone, but this also resonates in the back of my head when I am in a classroom, making a first impression, or even volunteering to help a fellow neighbor. If you work and practice to a certain standard, you will perform like a true Champion when your number gets called. I love being at the helm of a team look forward to performing in that role. I want to help lead our team to greatness, and I don't mind the pressure. I began playing organized football for the very first time in August of 2015, and not only have I caught on fairly quickly, but I intend to continue to be a student of the game and surprise people.
I know my drive and commitment to football will catapult me into the next level of my life at college. I do not want to go to just any college – I want to attend college in an environment of excellence, one that pushes me to the best future possible. Somewhere, people will notice and be suitably impressed. I want to make a quiet but strong statement when I stand up in that chapel after signing day and turn a few heads when they announce where I am going to spend my next four years. Whether those heads are turning because of academics or athletics, I want to set myself apart and pursue the best track I can for my future.
