Personal Statement
2022 season: 134 tackles; 79 solo tackles; 2 fumble recoveries; All Thumb Defensive Player of the Year; All Region Linebacker; All Conference Linebacker; All Conference Running Back
Record: 13-1 (lost final game).
"The team allowed 117 points in 14 games, for an average of 8.4 per game. At the heart of that defense was senior linebacker Aiden Mackowiak. His importance to Ubly went far beyond his 134 tackles (79 solo) and two fumble recoveries. For that, he was named the All- Thumb Defensive Player of the Year by the Thumb Sportswriters Association."
Who is Aiden Mackowiak- Bearcats defensive coordinator Jim Becker said Mackowiak leads the defense, and is the defensive signal-caller. "He has the responsibility of making his own calls as he sees fit," he said. "I always say my calls are suggestions. If Aiden sees a formation that requires adjustment, he's capable of making the call. His knowledge and play are superb. He's one of the better linebackers we've had at Ubly. He's not a big guy, but he can bring it; the physicality and the tackling. He's also a very good leader. He leads by example and is a verbal leader."
I go above and beyond. I can play multiple positions on offense and defense. My hard work and dedication can be seen in every sport I play. I have respect for my team and coaches. I know how to receive constructive criticism to push myself to do better, and I know how to provide constructive criticism. My teammates look up to me for guidance which I demonstrated as a Junior being a Defensive Captain and now as a Senior being the Defensive Captain, calling the plays. I never quit and I do not give up on my team or myself. I always bring motivation and leadership. I am a coachable athlete.
I know I am not the biggest player on the field nor the fastest, but I have the heart, drive and passion which makes me a top performer. I have the overall attributes that make a well-rounded player you would want on your team. No matter how big the obstacle, I prove it can be done.
I am committed to continuing my athletic career after high school and I look forward to achieving my goal of playing collegiate football.
