Personal Statement

I would like to take this moment to thank any coach that reads my profile. I am grateful for the time and effort the college personnel give to help student-athletes such as myself.

My collegiate goals and aspirations would be to complete a college degree. Although I am not absolutely sure of the field of study, I am a believer that an education with make me a better person and better my opportunities in life. I also aspire to have a good social experience in college. Network with friends, teachers, coaches, and enjoy the social experience.

Below I will speak of different aspects of my experiences and personality that give some insight of why I would make a good teammate, what make me different from other recruits in character, athletics and academics.

I have worked in roles that have developed leadership skills. For Tamarack camp, I have been a L.I.T (Leader In Training), Camp Counselor which includes leader of 15-20 campers ages varied 5yrs old-8yrs old.

In reference to service activities, I have participated in food drives at St. Matthews church, Christmas event with youth at St. Matthews church.  In the city of Passaic distributed food to over 2500 families (at least four times), in the city of Passaic cleaned areas of the city of garbage and debris during community service initiatives, with St. Matthews church prepared kits for children that arrived to US from Central America.

My two main activities are sports, football and wrestling. Played High School Football for the Rams, freshman, sophomore and junior year. Was given a Varsity letter sophomore year due to playing through covid season and earned a varsity letter Junior season.  Wrestled freshman and sophomore (covid 19 issues), earned varsity letter freshman year at weight class of 145 and earned varsity letter season year at weight class 285. Yes, 285, although I weigh 200, I wrestled much larger competition and due to my strength and determination I won more matches than I lost.

Other community activities include, at my church, became an Alter server in 5th grade, served for many years and am still in good standing. Served monthly for many years. Also at my church, St. Matthews, attended faith formation classes since kindergarten, received all my sacraments, in the end completed confirmation in 10th grade.

There have been other community service activities that I have done in Middle school and grammar school which include but is not limited to, assisting in raising money for the Special Olympics, in a capstone project in middle school I was able to secure supplies and needed items for woman and children at a woman’s shelter, I have had the opportunity to go to work with my father throughout my life, he is in law enforcement in an inner city in New Jersey and I have been around and involved with many social efforts, including but not limited to homeless shelters.

Throughout my academic career thus far I’ve made great progress through hard work to get from where I was to where I am now. All throughout middle school I was a kid who struggled to understood what we were doing, it was challenging staying on top of myself and simply couldn’t focus in class. Even early on in high school this was an issue for me, but through hard work and countless hours of focusing and giving extra effort, I’ve changed myself academically for the better. Now I’m willing to give up my free time in order to study something I don’t understand, ask the teacher more questions to prepare myself for assessments, and stay on top of myself when it comes to projects and homework. Through this change of work ethic my grades have only risen as the first marking period of freshman year I had a low GPA, compared to the last marking period of last school year I had a 4.1 with a 3.69 GPA overall through high school. This progress is only set to continue for me as I move forward.

Not only has my work ethic helped me in the classroom, but it has in work/sports. At work I’ve had no issues working with countless co workers due to the fact they know I do my best and never not fulfill my responsibilities. I’ve also been able to gain the respect of multiple boss figures due to the fact they know how much effort I give

In sports I’ve never been the biggest nor the fastest but still have the respect of my teammates and coaches. This is simply due to the fact they know each day during the season and offseason I do my best to better the team in any way I can. All in all, I’ve been able to make great progress over the last few years of my life due to how much effort I put into anything I’m a part of and this will only continue.
