Darrel Clark '23 Recruiting Profile

The world has never been a fair place, and it won’t be overnight. Having had some challenges during my freshman year, I start my day with a word of prayer by asking God to bless and protect me, my family, friends, and everyone that I encounter. From the pains of facing and going through my challenges, I learned to take the bull by the horn and fight for what I want in life. I also learned that my experience is a product of my decisions, so I now choose each day to make good choices. One thing that helped me through my tough time was sports. Sports has help me to apply myself and work harder both athletically and academically. To stay eligible to play, my grades improved tremendously. As a result, I am, now more than ever, focused on my future. Sports has a huge influence on me. To the point, I hope and pray that I one day attend a college, so I can on a higher level continuously improve myself both academically and athletically.

 
    My drive is the determination to make my parents, family, and friends proud of me. I’m also driven by the desire to put my hometown on the map. I want the youth in my community to know they can make it and there is hope for our generation. While maintaining my grades, I am currently participating in football, basketball and track & field. I also love dancing and playing video games for my down time. I am extremely  serious about improving myself academically  and athletically. I work with a tutor when needed, and I have a physical trainer and a skills trainer. Challenges motivate me to push myself even harder. I like to compete on a higher level and do my very best to help my team reach their goals. What makes me stand out amongst my peers is my ability to lead and follow and knowing the difference, and I’m coachable. My mother always says, “Hard Work Pays Off.” My father always reminds me of what Philp 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."

    I have found the wisdom of both parents to be true. I am learning that things don’t just happen unless you make them happen. Change is brought about by the actions of men, so I choose to be a doer. These qualities of taking the initiative and making everyone else around me tick and perform optimally is undoubtedly my greatest strength and positions me as a great asset to any college team.
