When I was younger, I did not excel in sports. I did not excel at any extracurricular activity. I wanted to find one special activity that I would love and at which I would excel. This became football.
To be the best, I worked during the pandemic to get into the best shape possible. I often stayed up until 3:00 in the morning working out or went out running some nights in order to train to become the best football player I knew that I could become. I pride myself on being the hardest working athlete on the team. If anyone else is working harder than me, I know this puts me at a disadvantage. It is one thing to fail. Yet, if I don’t succeed because I did not put forth 100% of my best effort, this is my own fault. I need to leave it all on the field in order to be able to live with myself.
By taking a chance on me, I can promise any coach one thing; I will give you everything I’ve got. Anyone will tell you that I work like a machine. I spend hours in the weight room and on the practice field every single day of the week. I worked hard to become the best cornerback in my league this year. Our team didn’t pass much, but I also feel that I was just as good as of a wide receiver as I was a cornerback. In the end, I was awarded the Most Improved Player Award by my coaches. The Hudson Valley FaM sports league also named me the best Defensive Back of the Year this year.
As I continue my athletic career, I plan on working even harder. I am sure that every student-athlete will tell their coach something along these same lines. Yet, no one means it as much as I do. I love the game of football to my core. I cannot wait to see what the next chapter holds for me no matter where I go to school. I hope to study Sports Management, Sports Media/Communication, or Business. I carry many of the same traits from the field into the classroom as I am a dedicated and hardworking student in the classroom as well.
