Samantha Garson '25 Recruiting Profile

Hi coaches! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I have been playing soccer since I was in kindergarten and started off playing center defender and right defender. Eventually, I moved to play midfield and striker for both school and club. My success and performance in school is critically important to me, as is my play on the field. I pride myself in never being outworked and am willing to do whatever the team needs of me, hence the various positions I have played in my career. My goal is to play at the next level because of how much playing the sport has done for me. Soccer has helped me learn the importance of working as a team, has taught me to never give up, and has given me unexplainable joy throughout my life. I am an unselfish player, who understands that any solo achievements are also a team achievement as well. I believe in lifting up my teammates and making the right play, not the selfish one. 

During this past Club year, I scored 10 goals and had nine assists. In this year's Club Season ('22-23), my % of shots on target was 75.7% (28 out of 36 shots overall); the second highest on my team. My club Eastern FC competes in the Division 1 EDP North Atlantic League. My team won our league last spring and won the NYS Cup! Furthermore, this year (2023) we placed 2nd in our league. 

I've played Varsity soccer for two years, and this past season ('22 season) my team and I won its first league title in school history. Due to this victory, my team and I went to the Sectional Final but sadly suffered a loss against the top seed, Irvington. Despite this, it was a terrific and historically altering year, and it is one I will never forget. I hope that this journey with my team inspired other teams and people at my school that anything is possible, as at one point, Edgemont had won nine league games in a row. I mostly played midfield for Edgemont and had five goals and 11 assists during the 2022 season. I am beyond excited to start again with my incredible teammates and see if we can go achieve even bigger accomplishments in the Fall!
