Hello,
Sports are a huge part of who am I, and where I'm going. Sports have helped me overcome a few obstacles in my life. I was an extremely shy and quiet kid, but once I got involved in flag football in 3rd grade, I learned about being a part of a team. I was able to find my self-confidence and making friends became natural. Instead of not participating in things because of my anxiety, I was finally enjoying participating, and sports helped me get there.
Sports take up a lot of time, but to me, it's time well spent. Academics are also of course, very important, but something that is not easy for me. I have ADD, so time management is key to my success. I have had to learn the life skills of prioritizing, being assertive, asking for help, and commitment. In grade school, I consistently made honor roll, however my transition to high school has not been easy academically. I had to talk to my mom about my struggles and now I'm taking medication to help me focus during school. But while this was all going on, football is what gave me my outlet to be me, and just have the chance to feel "normal." So far this statement seems pretty heavy, and once you get to know me, I'm really a funny guy, who loves to joke around and hang out with my friends. I think whatever program I am lucky to be a part of during my college career will find that I will bring dedication, leadership by example, and a positive attitude!
