My name is Layton Thurlow and a few of my goals for college are to be able to continue playing the sport I love while going to school to obtain my bachelors degree. I then plan to continue on to graduate school and receive my degree in medicine and after receiving a medical degree, I plan to complete four more years in an anesthesiology residency or plan B is to attend the United States Air Force Academy and become a pilot and fight for our country.
I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society and have volunteered over 30 hours this past school year in a variety of ways. I have worked by serving my community at the Union Gospel Mission serving meals to the homeless. I have also worked at the salvation army, and our local food bank. I helped at camp attitude which is a camp for kids with disabilities. I also give my time by working in the concession stands during the girls basketball games.
I am just finishing my freshman year and have maintained my 4.0 and I am currently ranked 1st out of 519 freshman. I was recognized at my 8th grade promotion for academic excellence. I was one of ten student out of 254 kids in my 8th grade class that maintained a 4.0 GPA all 3 years of my middle school career.
My 8th grade year I was on 4 separate football teams, two full contact teams in the fall and two 7 on 7 teams this spring. I also played basketball, I was on 3 bowling leagues, and am currently playing baseball at the highest level in the state.
My other extra curricular activities include participating in two choirs, I have performed solos in front of over 1500 people and travel from San Francisco to Seattle to perform in different concerts. I enjoy going to church with my family, and I am a younger brother to two awesome older brothers and I am an uncle.
