My egoless drive and dedication and dream is to play college football Division 1 and ultimately be drafted into the NFL as a wide receiver. Playing football as well as discipline and all the hard work that goes with it is my number one priority. I started playing flag football at a very young age and didn’t play tackle football until the 7th grade (Parents didn’t want me playing tackle too young)I've attended a few football combines in the summer of 2019 and 2021.
During 2021/2022 recess at my school my friends and I would pass the ball around daily and gained the continual attention of the varsity coach. He watched me continue to get vertical and never drop the ball when it was thrown to me, and he was fascinated with my speed. During the summer of 2022 I was invited to practice and condition daily with the varsity football team for the upcoming season(I was only going into the 8th grade). In addition, we practiced running sprints, drills and were tested with speed and agility and conditioned doing weight training daily in the Carolina heat. Playing with the varsity team I was able to gain the respect of the upper-class varsity players and learn some new skills. At times the coaches bickered over which side I was going to play on that day as I was already preforming certain skills on a accelerated varsity level. I am committed to working hard and learning ways to better my performance. Almost 7 days a week I am at the field in the morning for an hour as well as in the evening for an hour with my dad specifically through my weekends. Also, during the summer of 2022 after conditioning with the varsity team my parents signed me up in the afternoons 2 days a week with a sports trainer (45 mins away) to further my agility, strength, and proper form in technique while weight training in a gym.
My parents helped me sign up for some college football camps in the fall of 2022. I attended Clemson College Football camp and gained a lot of valuable knowledge and skills. I met a lot of other great players and made some new friends during my time at these camps. I even got a nice size turf burn to remember my time at Clemson. I was also signed up to attend the Furman’s College Camp Football one week later but was not able to attend due to the healing process needed for the turf burn.
Becoming a professional player is not easy and is more competitive than ever. Scouts are looking for complete players that not only have the skills with the ball but also the right attitude. My god’s gifted talent is football and being humble. Thank you for taking the time to read letter.
Kind regards,
Roman Benjamin
