In the 4th grade, I first started playing football. My interest was sparked due to it being one of the few sports no one in my family had played before. I did not realize at the time that this sport would continue to allow me to grow as a person and slowly become one of my favorite sports and my secondary focus behind education. Football has influenced me beyond my wildest dreams, as my confidence has increased on and off the field. I went from the quiet freshmen who started at right guard and defensive end after one of our seniors tore his ACL, to a team captain junior who still has room to grow and is chasing a state title with my brothers. Yet, just before my sophomore year, I contracted mononucleosis and played football with it for 2 months without a break. This caused a drop in my academics, overall mood, as I could not play in the playoffs, where we lost to Florence Christian Highschool in the semifinals. However, I overcame that obstacle and am now continuing to do what I love during my junior season. But, I also take pride in my schoolwork, as currently my GPA is around a 3.7 unweighted, and I wish to further my interest in physical therapy and athletic training with college classes suited to help me along my current path.
