Danny Barker '20 Recruiting Profile

I am a very motivated, respectful, and hard working student athlete. I work as hard at academics as I do on the field.  I have been raised by two great parents who encourage and push me to do the right thing. My hard work on and off the field is for the betterment of my team and me. I lead by example and know that hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard.  My goal is to obtain a quality education and use my athletic ability to assist in the financial burden that tuition carries. Furthermore, I desire to continue my athletic career at the next level to fulfill my passion for sports.

I have been in gifted and talented education classes my entire academic career and am currently taking honor's classes. I am a Duke Tips recognized student and qualified to take the ACT in the 7th grade.  I have won geography bees and science fairs and finished junior high in the top 5 in my class. 

As an athlete, I started 7th and 8th grade as our QB and linebacker and led my team to multiple victories. As a Freshman, I started as a middle linebacker on the varsity football team and rotate at wide receiver and running back. I have also started as a 7th and 8th grader on my varsity baseball team as an infielder. I lead my team in batting average as a 7th grader hitting over .300. I also recently entered my first 5K run and won my age group. 

I am a sports "junkie" and I am very knowledgeable in how sports and teams work.  I want to continue to learn to become the best student athlete I can be. I love to be pushed hard and know that I would be a great asset for any team that would choose me.
