Covert Darbyshire '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Covert Darbyshire, I am 15 years old and a 9th grader at Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. For the past 8 years my dream has been to become a QB and I'm now actively, day in and day out working hard and enjoying the journey to realizing that goal. 

Year 2023 was a stand out year for me.  It started with winning an MVP award at NXGN's Dallas showcase and being invited to TheSHOW in Atlanta.  At TheSHOW in Atlanta as QB1 I led my team to third place overall and only missed going all the way in overtime. I also had the privilege of being invited to Case Keenam's QB Master Class, where we got to personally train with him and eleven other elite quarterbacks.  The highlight was breaking down film with Case Keenam, Colt McCoy and Davis Mills!  I have also had a few D1 programs reach out to my head coach after the college camps!  In the Spring, I was selected as a QB for Total Domination's 7v7 14U team and worked my way up to QB1!  For the Fall, I was QB1 for Anderson's Freshman team and personally had a lot of growth and learned so much. I have stiff competiton in the guys ahead of me.  The quarterback a head of me has several D1 offers, but I'm hot on his heels as we are both competing for QB1 for the 2024 season!

Year 2024 is looking Great!  This Spring, I will be returning to Total Domination's 7v7 15U team as their QB1!  I've also started coaching I9 flag football and love seeing the young athletes compete and seeing who's coming up behind me!  I am also looking forward to competing in many elite showcases and heading to more college camps!

While football is a big part of my life, I also strive for academic excellence. I've kept my GPA up inspite of a concussion that kept me out of school for an extended period.  In my free time I'm disciplined in organizing teammates to come out to the field or get in the gym.  Of course, I play video games with my friends and the new Fortnight was a fun distraction!  My family (Mom, Zuzu & Blaise), friends and church community are a huge part of my life and have gotten me through many tough times, including losing my Dad unexpectedly in September 2021 the day after my thirteenth birthday.  He is a huge part of my "Why" and I know he sees me. My bernepoodle mix puppy and three other big dogs are also a big part of our family and keep things lively.
