Hearlin Benavides '19 Recruiting Profile

Greetings, 

I’d really appreciate it if you’d took the time to put some consideration into this email. 

My name is Hearlin Benavides, I’m currently an in-season (c/o 2019) running-back at Edinburg High School. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to start as the ball carrier for the bobcats the past 2 years and to the surprise of many had many great feats. 

My feats included : 

• 31-6A District Rushing Leader(2x) 
• 1st team all area running back
• Edinburg High rushing record breaker (held in 1976) 
• Edinburg Daily Review  offensive player of the year 
• Newcomer of the year 
• Blue Owl player of the week 
• Region Ford Built Tough POW(2x)
• Etc (off- field student awards)

All of this of course has only been possible  through my family, my big heart underdog team, coaches/trainers, and most importantly God. My ordained preaching grandfather used to preach that a plan is just a thought until you really start acting on it. Today, I’m acting on my own dream to play at the next level and if it’s in God’s will it’ll happen. If granted, it’ll be a day in/day out action through hard work. If not granted, I’ll take on the opportunity to join the Navy Seals in order to give back to the country that many moons back gave my family everything.

BACKGROUND:

As you can see through my highlights, I’m not your average over six-foot running back. Nevertheless, at the time of my arrival I decided to come play for the zoned struggling home high school as apposed to joining my family at the new high ranking inner city high school.

I got the opportunity to meet some like minded, big hearted dudes that wanted to be the change, and until this day it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. It taught me to not plant where all the trees are, but where the sun meets the ground. It’s all molded a never settling hardworking character that has made all my accomplishments worth a little more. The characteristics that I believe defy me as a student athlete are:

• A LOT of heart
• Grit 
• Hard work
• Dedication
• Unsettling Mind
• Coachable student of the game

and something that wasn’t clearly shown on the highlight tapes, but I consider to be my biggest asset on the field is my level of physicality, I live for a good hit. 

ASPIRATION:

I aspire to join the Law Enforcement field later on in my life down here in the Rio Grande Valley. I live in a highly corrupted region and I just want to be the difference. The opportunity to do what I love and get a college degree in the process will help me get to where I want to be later on in life.
