Personal Statement

I would like to attend a university with a strong engineering program.  I feel that getting a good education is the most important thing to consider when I pick a school to attend.  I intend to seek a post graduate degree in engineering once I receive my bachelor's degree.

I love the game of football.  I pride myself on my commitment to my teammates, coaches and the game.  I feel that I take instructions and criticisms very well.  I learn from my mistakes and coaches only have to tell me one time what I did wrong.  I work harder then anyone else to be the best player on the field.  I work on football year round.   I spend time with my dad going over my game tape and my opponents tape.   It is a huge benefit that my dad played college football and can help me break down game film.  I feel this gives me an edge on the field.   There is nothing better than beating the guy the lines up across from me on every play.  Helping my team win games is the most important thing to me.  I hope by the time we are seniors we will be competing for a state title.  If I never win an individual award but get to hold a state title trophy it will be a great high school football career for me.

I am a leader on and off the field.  I want everyone on the field to be the best they can be.  I encourage my teammates to get better and to do the right thing on and off the field.   I take my school work very serious and I try to help others in the classroom as well.  I know my football days will come to an end at some point and I need to have a strong foundation for the rest of my life.

I have been a wrestler for the last two years.  I feel wrestling has made me a better football player.  It has taught me how to use my hands better, how to have better leverage and better foot work.  It has also made me stronger physically and mentally.  When it is just me and another wrestler on the mat I have to be mentally and physically ready for anything.  On a wrestling mat there is no relying on a teammate to make the play, its up to me to win.  I love the competition and putting in the hard work to be the best.  Winning a state title is my biggest athletic achievement and the one I am most proud.  I have been on two undefeated football teams and played for a title but winning state was a goal I set for myself and I fulfilled it.

My family is very important to me.  We are a close family and we love and support each other.   I have a younger sister that plays volleyball and I support her at all of her games.  I enjoy spending time on the lake with them, in the pool or watching a good movie with them too.   My mom and dad are my biggest supports, they go above and beyond to helm myself and my sister fulfill our dreams.

My long term football goals are to play college football at a university with a strong football tradition and a great engineering program.   After my football playing days are over I would like to be an Air Force Officer like my dad.
