Through the years that I have played football, I've learned how to live up to my G.O.A.L.S. ( Getting Over Adversity Leads to Success ) Each day, I have grown and learned that there is an objective that I must complete. When I thought things were going just right, an unexpected obstacle changed my life. I......a healthy boy, received a kidney diagnosis called "Nephrotic Syndrome," a kidney disease which caused protein to leak through my urine. Unlike many, I am the 2 percent that only experience short term effects of this condition. By continuing to maintain a healthy diet, I am cured! Of course I had to undergo major downfalls, 1) school absences- which led to a decrease in my grades, 2) having a low sodium diet, and lastly, having to miss two years of the sport I had fallen in love. A characteristic that describes me is strength! Many individuals are unaware of the challenges that I have faced, but it is what has made me. I have found that I am stronger than most people my age and having an opportunity to play football once again gave me great joy. I not only impressed my team, but the coaches were pleased with my performances. I had a powerful impact on the field by using my speed, high energy, being coach-able, and having courage. Everyday, and with everything I do, I give 110%, it is because of my family that I want to accomplish more. I know that my parents would want me to succeed and take advantage of opportunities that could advance, or take me to the next level. There are very few members of my family that are high school, or college graduates. I want to make a difference in my family and succeed on and off the football field. It is my strength that overpowers from within and makes me determined to beat the odds!!
