I am a 5'11" safety from Plano, TX. I have been playing football since middle school with both school teams and outside sports programs. I played select soccer for many years before starting football and it was with football that I found my passion. I now play on the John Paul II High School varsity team. When I was sophomore I had the opportunity to make starting varsity as a corner. I worked hard in the spring season and summer strength camps to get the starting spot over juniors and seniors – which I was successful and I started every varsity game in my sophomore year. That year I was Honorable Mention All-District. In my junior year I moved to starting safety. This season I earned 2nd team All-District as well as my teams Defensive MVP. In addition to football I run track in the off season. I have gone to state championships 2 years in a row. As a sophomore I competed in both the 110 and 300 hurdles and this year I competed in the 110, where I took 2nd place.
Recently my school team has not had a good season. While not winning games is difficult, I have found that the teamwork, camaraderie and attitude through adversity I have experienced with my team has given me valuable insight on how to become aa better player. It is how I approach losing which has taught me the most. I have learned to continue to work hard each and every practice and game, not become discouraged and help better my teammates through positive re-enforcement and leadership.
I have a 3.8 GPA and a 30 ACT score and am a member of the National Honor society. I was voted class vice president and am a member of the school’s Student Ambassadors. I volunteer at the North Texas food bank and local church pantries. I am also a camp counselor for special needs adults during the summers.
I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the classroom and field. I would like to pursue a university with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of engineering or computer science. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two-sport athlete I know that I have what it takes to be a valuable member on your team!
