My name is Mariska Suwanda and I am a student at John Paul II High School. I was a swimmer who turned around and decided to start playing waterpolo. I started playing my freshmen year of high school after my coach convinced me to. In the span of 4 weeks, I learned the ins and outs of the game. After the first tournament, I was made a starter for every single game and helped the JPII girls' team the finish 7th overall at Regionals in its first year of existence. Besides just playing waterpolo for my high school, I play club at Pegasus Waterpolo Academy in Texas, am involved in a lot of activities going on at my Church, and I am also part of the co-leadership position in my Campus Ministry at John Paul II High School. Not only that, but I am also in all honors and AP classes right now and that comes with a lot of work, and I am still maintaining a 3.9 GPA. What sets me apart from other recruits is that I learned the game of waterpolo in 4 weeks, the basics at least. This means that I am willing to take correction in whatever it may be in life, both on the field and off it as well.
For college, I am looking for a college that can offer an excellent women's waterpolo program as well as offer a sports medicine program with a continued tract to pre-law or pre-med. I have already interned at a law firm to gain some experiences of what the firm is really like.
