Personal Statement

My name is Ethan Kappes. I have been playing football since I was 8 years old.  It is my passion in life. Ever since I stepped on the football field I've only had the desire to constantly improve. On my tenth birthday I asked my parents for speed and agility training classes because I knew that hard work would help me excel.

I have a superior work ethic and truly enjoy practice and training. I currently train with the Foster Falcon High School coaches and have done so for the last 4 years.  I enjoy training with players more advanced than myself seeing as I am only going into 9th grade. I get the opportunity to train with varsity high school and some college players on a regular basis and it really pushes me to new levels.

Every summer I sign up for all of the camps associated with Foster High School while still maintaining my outside of school training. The last 2 years I have won the fastest man title at the Foster Falcons Football Camp for my age group.

I also competed in the KB3 Elite 7 on 7 league this year and it really helped me progress on my route running and my general football IQ.  I was placed on the JV team and competed with kids that were going to be sophomores and juniors in every outing. It really pushed me to hone my technical skill set competing against bigger, stronger opponents.

I attended the Jacquizz Rodgers Youth Football Camp at the Lamar Consolidated High School in my area this summer. This is when my 40 yard dash and my 5-10-5 times were recorded. I was selected as a top 5 receiver at the camp and was the youngest to be selected for this honor.  While it was not a highly competitive camp it was an opportunity to get time with High School coaches and other current and former NFL players for insight and direction.

I also excelled in my academics this year. I understand the value of a good education and realize the importance of being able to produce in the classroom as well as on the field. I am enrolling in Pre-AP classes next year and am currently a member of the National Junior Honors Society.  My main goal is to get into a college that will not only fulfill my desires as an athlete but also help prepare me for life after football.
