I am currently enrolled at The Woodlands High School, in Texas, I have just started my Senior year. I wish to pursue a college career, even though at the moment I am still deciding what major best suits me. I see myself in the future working in a sports environment, were I could show my passion in this challenging and exciting field, and I can leverage my experiences of living in multiple countries.
In addition to global perspective and cultural appreciation, sports have given me a pathway to that comradeship and belonging that we search for. Nelson Mandela once said that “sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand”. I completely agree and my life has been an example. I started playing Rugby in Oman and have continued to play throughout the years. When we moved to Spain, I developed a love for Futbol, it gave me a common passion with the rest of the country; the nation comes together to celebrate goals in every event you can think of. Spain gave me the training and consistency to become a better athlete and challenge myself. Finally, as a rookie in The Woodlands, rugby and soccer instantly gave me welcoming teammates.
I initially played soccer for The Woodlands High School Junior Varsity and the Houston Dynamo Pre-Academy 2003 team, playing as an attacking midfield or outside midfield. My vision of the field, and knowledge of where to pass and when to shoot led to 15 assists and 8 goals in my JV season.
Rugby has always been a focus sport for me, and I am currently the starting flyhalf for The Woodlands Youth Rugby Club, who are ranked 4th in the nation. The Flyhalf is the player who leads and controls the attack throughout this demanding game. In 2019 I was part of the squad that won the Texas State Championship and beat the Louisiana State Champions. Unfortunately Covid-19 interrupted the 2020 season and also meant we could not attend the National Championship.
During my junior year, I started to be interested in American football. I trained on my own during the lockdown and sent multiple videos to the football coach during the spring semester, convincing him to give me a tryout. I am now a kicker in the Varsity Team Roster for my Senior year and I am beyond thrilled and proud of this position.
In terms of character, I grew up and was educated in an international school in the middle east, and then I moved and lived in Spain for 4 years, and now I live in the United States where I will complete my education. Due to the fact that I have lived internationally all my life, I have many advantages that make me different from other recruits. I speak fluent Spanish, I have broad interests, including theatre, art and architecture. I am a really good actor, and a creative drawer. On the other hand, I enjoy and have always enjoyed learning about World History and Algebra.
I am still deciding which major best fits, however I am definitely interested in business, marketing and sports marketing.
