Jonathan Dunn '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jonathan "JD" Dunn and I am a senior (Class of 2013) at West Springfield High School "Spartans" in Springfield, Virginia. I have successfully completed my final year in football as a 3-year varsity letterman as the starting Running Back. I will also excel as a 4 year varsity letterman for indoor/outdoor track (sprints), and on schedule to graduate with Honors in academics. I consider myself a multi-dimensional threat at running back, receiver and kickoff returns. My biggest impact on the field as a RB is still the ability to read my offensive blocks against a developing defensive scheme using explosive speed and power and when called upon, switch to slot receiver or defensive back. I was also a kickoff return threat, as opposing teams would avoid kicking in my directions. This past 2012 football season our team made it to the playoff for the first time in 4 years. I ran as a senior for over 900 yards, scoring 9 rushing TDs despite missing two games while competing in Virginia High School largest classification; AAA Division 6 (Northern Region). My stats as a three year starter are: * 3,100 yards rushing with 28 TD’s * 370 yards receiving with 2 TD’s * 700 yards in kickoff returns with 1 TD Total of 4,000 multi-purpose yards with 31 TD’s Athletic honors include: * 10th Grade--2nd Team All-Patriot District RB * 11th Grade--1st Team All-Patriot District (RB) 1st Team All-Northern Virginia Region (RB) Honorable Mention, All-Mets by the Washington Post Newspaper * 12th Grade—2nd Team All Patriot District (RB) Though I was a primary target this season with opposing defenses keying in on me on every play, what I learned as a senior: * Each season is different, but teamwork, knowing your assignment is still the key. * Every RB is not fortunate to have a big line, but a good RB can and will find a way to make it happen. This was a tough lesson, especially in my senior season. * I learned about being a leader as a senior and encouraging the new RB’s and others teammates how to study and play the game. * You have to continue to be a student of the game and train smarter and harder each year. I am confident that I will play college football at the highest level where my talents will be of service and make an impact. The idea football program is one rich in history and tradition combined with great academic programs. I am disciplined and will continue to be a student of the game of football. I will work hard to excel as a model student/athlete both on and off the field for any college program.
