With an athletic background in baseball, basketball, soccer, cross country, and track and field I started playing football in eighth grade at Horse Heaven Hills Middle School. As a first year athlete I started every game at tight end, and defensive end. Eventually, I was given the responsibility of calling the defensive plays and helping to make sure that everyone was in the proper position. As I finished my eighth grade year I also competed in basketball and track and field for the middle school. As a freshman at Southridge High School I started at offensive tackle and defensive tackle while working with the varsity long snapper to learn how to long snap. After my freshman football season I started working out with Tim Young at Tri-City Barbell Club where I was taught the fundamentals of proper lifting technique and realized my passion for weight training. In my spring season as a freshman, I threw shotput and discus with the Southridge Suns track and field program. As a sophomore I served the varsity football program as the back-up left tackle and long snapper, while starting at left tackle, defensive tackle, and handling the long snapping responsibilities for the junior varsity program. After our football season ended, I ventured onto the mats and competed at the junior varsity/varsity level as a heavyweight, where I earned my first varsity letter. After the wresting season concluded I joined the elite performance training program at Elite Ambitions Training in Richland, Washington. Working with Steve Whitehead and Vaalyn Jackson to advance my strength, footwork, and athletic ability. When I returned for my junior season I took on the starting role as the left tackle, nose guard, and long snapper for the 3A academic state champion Southridge Suns, and as a junior varsity/varsity wrestler on the mats. As a junior I earned my varsity letter in football and wrestling. As I prepare for my senior year I continue to train with the team at Elite Ambitions, where I continue to build and grow. Throughout my athletic career, I have prided myself on being coachable, accountable, and reliable to my team and coaches.
Academically, I started attending Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington where I am simultaneously earning my Associates degree and completing my high school diploma. Long term my academic goal is to attend a university where I can earn my Bachelors in Education and work towards becoming a high school level mathematics or science teacher and as a coach. Throughout my school my school years, its been a goal of mine to pass every class I take with an 80%, and I often reach that goal. As I approach my senior season I have been appointed to the Southridge Suns Football Leadership council based on my leadership ability and recommendations from the training staff and Elite Ambitions Training, faculty at Southridge High School, and the wrestling program coaching staff.
I have attended the Eastern Oregon University Big Man camp prior to my sophomore and junior season, additionally I attended the Eastern Washington University Specialist camp prior to my sophomore season and the Eastern Washington University Big Man and Specialist camp prior to my junior season. As I prepare to enter my senior season I am scheduled to attend the Eastern Oregon University Big Man camp, Eastern Washington University Big Man Camp, University of Idaho Athlete Showcase, the Nike Portland Trench camp, and a Pro Kicker long snapping camp being held in Seattle.
In preparation for my senior year I continue to build and work with the training staff at Elite Ambitions Training. I strive to continue to build my leadership ability and versatility as a lineman that has the ability to play any position along the offensive or defensive line, and my skillset as a long snapper. Additionally, I am focused on preparing my body and mind for a run at the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association state wrestling championships this winter.
