My love for this game is multifaceted. I’m a film buff at heart; a nerd who finds planning and scheming against another interesting and constantly exciting, no matter the opponent. The amount of hours I spent in Hudl this year was a number I wish I had, for I feel I can take credit for the creation of a new, more surgical, film culture at my high school. Currently, as a player who just finished his junior season, I take pride in the flexibility my defensive cordinator allows me in gameplanning and in-game play calling. That leads me straight into my second point, which is my on-field savviness. I am one who is blessed with the gift of calm under pressure, which flows into areas such as test taking, public speaking, and in-game prowess. In addition to these, I feel that much body type along with physical strength training is one that could work well at the next level. I work hard to consistently grow my aerobic and anaerobic capacities, especially during the ever-difficult months of December, January, and February, where motivation is much lower than other parts of the year. I also throw shot put and discus in the spring, and have earned varsity honors both my freshman and sophomore year, placing 5th in discus and 6th in shot put in the Big 8 during my sophomore season. Finally, though, I do understand that this statement is supposed to make me look like a perfect high school football player in the eyes of a scout (you), which is why you do need hear that I also am an introspective human and work very hard to better the areas in which I lack. Just two examples would be the difficulties I have with my squat and hang clean form along with execution of man to man coverage in our man-zone defense. Both of these issues I have sought out to better by working with a power lifter in our school weight room and being a leader in the creation of winter 7 vs. 7 football practices. My ability to recognize and attack my weaknesses, along with mindfulness towards the game, are why I believe I can play for your college and thrive.
