Personal Statement
In this short summation, I hope to provide you with insight about me and why I will be an asset for your basketball team’s success. First, I am PASSIONATE about the game of basketball. I started playing the game at age 5 and nothing is more satisfying to me than scoring a bucket. I am open to all divisions and most locations around the country to continue my basketball pursuit. I am looking for a team where individual hard work and a willingness to go above and beyond is expected. Second, I am EXPERIENCED, DEDICATED, and COMMITTED. I have been a part of the starting five for the past 3 years, 1 year as a junior varsity player and the last 2 years as a starting varsity player. The intensity required to play varsity basketball was significant, but I committed to the hard work that was necessary and earned my place on the team. I am extremely proud to have been part of the team that earned the first Area Championship in almost 2 decades and an appearance in the Sweet 16 for our school. In my second year as a varsity starter, we earned our second Area Championship. Last year, my coach commented that I was the only player on our team who understood our game plan from all 5 positions and could play all 5 positions if needed. I am interested in a team where the coaches and the other players respect each other and hold themselves and each other accountable for team success. Finally, I always REPRESENT our team and our school in a positive manner. I believe in good sportsmanship on and off the hardwood. I am courteous and respectful to coaches, players, officials, boosters, and fans on the court. Off the court, I have represented our school at leadership conferences such as Continental Congress and our youth leadership forums. I have an unweighted GPA of 4.0 including earned college credits due to dual enrollment classes, and I enjoy family and social support systems. If your college basketball team is looking for these qualities, I am the player for you. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
