Furthering my education is important to me as I am planning to be the second in my family to earn a college degree. I started playing basketball young and continue to play basketball in high school. I am a senior at Juneau Douglas High School as my previous school, as Thunder Mountain High School (TMHS), has been consolidated. During my first three years of high school at TMHS I learned what I wanted to work towards to academically and physically, which was earning good grades and playing some good basketball. As a two-year varsity player, I am proud that TMHS ended the 2023/24 season winning Regions and earning State runner-ups, which is a first for TMHS's school history. I enjoy being a student athlete as I am someone who likes the drive of pushing myself academically in the classroom and physically on the court. I also appreciate my teammates bettering my skills as I would do for them.
I was born in Juneau, Alaska, a town with a population of 35,000. The only way into Juneau is by plane or boat. My town is small, but it is home. I am Filipino and love to eat! When I’m not playing basketball, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and eating at McDonald’s with my grandma. I am looking for an educational institution that challenges me academically and has that “hometown feeling” on campus. I can offer my hard work ethic in the classroom and discipline for the game. And importantly, I’m personally looking forward to becoming a better student athlete.
