Peyton Smith '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Peyton Smith.  I am a Senior at Gila Ridge High School in Yuma, Arizona.  I have been playing basketball for eight years.  I am a four year Varsity player for the Gila Ridge Hawks.  My best attributes are that I am hardworking and self-driven.  I love the game and strive to be the best player I can be.  I feel that I am a very coachable player and welcome feedback that helps me be a better player and teammate.  Living in Yuma has limited my opportunities in basketball, but I am lucky that my parents have supported my dreams of playing at the highest level possible.  I have spent most Saturdays or Sundays over the last few years driving to Phoenix (approx 3 hours one-way) to attend private training with a former D-1 and professional player in an effort to improve my skills.   All camps and showcases are also located 3-4 hours from my hometown.  I understand that sacrifices are necessary to achieve my goals.   

During my Senior season I was Co-Captain and was able to be a leader to my teammates both on and off the court.  I finished with strong stats and even broke my high school's single game scoring record (37 points). I believe that any struggles I have faced have helped me grow mentally as a player.  I think my Basketball IQ is very high as well as my mental toughness.  I am looking for an opportunity to play at the next level.  I will always try and give my best to prove my worth as both a player, teammate and friend.
