I have loved playing basketball since I was a kid. It has always been the main aspect to my life. Basketball gives me a goal to chase and something to work hard for. It brings out the most competitive side of me. I am someone who is addicted to getting better. Through basketball, I have learned discipline, hard work, and necessary life skills which will be vital later on in my life. I want to be able to play the game I love at the collegiate level, build a brotherhood with my teammates, grow as a player and a person, and be challenged academically to get ready for a life beyond basketball. I am a serious student taking AP and honors classes with a 3.99 GPA at an elite private school. I am spending my summer working as a judicial intern for a civil court judge while also training for basketball through constant weight lifting, basketball workouts individually and with my trainer, and traditional practice.
I am a 6’7 power forward with a + 4 wing span, and I am still growing. I have grown 3 inches and have put on 25 pounds in the past 6 months. In addition to my high school’s strength program which lifts 3 days a week during the offseason and twice during season, I also work with my personal mentor and trainer twice a week. We focus on everything ranging from mobility and lateral quickness, vertical jumping, overall strength building, and basketball as well.
I am a versatile, left-handed player. One of my biggest strengths offensively is my 3-point shooting (~ 40%). I feel comfortable shooting anywhere on the court, running off screens, coming off a pick and pop, or off the dribble. I am also very comfortable finishing in the paint, whether it be drop steps, jump-hooks, or finishing off two from a drive. I have a good sense for the game and am capable of making the right play at the right time. I have played the wing all my life but play the post for my high school team, and consider myself a stretch wing/forward.
Defensively, I understand the importance of a team being connected and I consider myself a very reliable defender. I take pride in my communication on the floor, being a great help-side defender, securing rebounds, and having a knack for blocking shots.
I am the teammate who will do whatever it takes to win; whether it be knocking down big shots, getting teammates open, or defending the other team’s best player.
I know and embrace what the day to day grind of being a college athlete requires. I come from a basketball family with a Mom who was a Division I two-time Academic All-America player, and a dad who coached at the college level. For the past two years, I’ve watched my sister do the work as a recruited division I collegiate rower.
Overall, I am a fierce competitor, coachable player, and great teammate who will do whatever it takes to win.
