My name is Christian Wilson and my family has raised me to be college bound since I was born. I have wanted to play basketball at the college level ever since I can remember. My love and passion for the game has grown exponentially ever since I started playing recreational ball at age 4. I have learned what it takes to play whatever role my coach and family needs. I moved a lot through my childhood due to my father's job. Every move molded me into a more adaptable, resilient and charismatic person. I used basketball to make new friends and spark relationships that still burn brightly today. I am very outgoing and enjoy connecting with people I meet on a deep level.
There are many invaluable lessons I have learned playing basketball during my life. I am the captain on my team and the oldest in my family of six. I feel the two aspects of my life have a lot in common. In both facets of my life I have learned the skills necessary to lead a team by example and patience. On the court and in the family, both teams look up to my intense work ethic and watch me grow and learn something new everyday. I have an addiction to learning and have a constant need to grow myself. I am very coachable and take criticism and incorporate it into my game and life. I am very athletic and I know that I have a lot of space to grow. I am always looking for ways to grow myself academically, spiritually and athletically. The most valuable thing I have learned in my basketball career so far is that nothing is ever perfect and there is room for improvement in everything you do. This mentality keeps my passion alive in every aspect of my life.
The day I went to work with my father in the operating room and watched a doctor operate on someone, I fell in love with the medical field. I plan to either go into the medical field or the business world. I have had many opportunities to see both worlds in action throughout my life and I can see myself making a difference someday. I also plan to get a music minor because I have been playing guitar and studying music theory for a big portion of my life and would like to expand on that part of myself. Music and basketball both grow similar muscles. Both have taught me that the details matter in everything I do, and that “focused intensity over time multiplied by God equals unstoppable momentum.” That is a saying my family has lived by ever since I was a child. Through focused intensity, I have goals of achieving a 1300 or higher on my SAT and finishing high school strong with a cumulative GPA of 3.8.
I can thrive in any situation and on any team. I see my life as a series of puzzles and my competitive nature will not let me rest until I have learned to solve them all. I can bring a lot of value to any team I am apart of academically, spiritually, and athletically.
