My collegiate goals are to further my education while being a strong asset to a basketball team. I want to learn from my teammates while also helping my teammates grow. I believe having a positive outlook on life is the most important thing in all aspects of life including basketball. I believe the biggest factors to being successful in life and in basketball are working hard, having a positive mindset and attitude and being a good person to everyone. I started playing basketball at the age of 11 and have been playing almost year round ever since. Between playing on my high school team and my AAU team I am constantly striving to get better and improve and strengthen my game. My motivation for working so hard and always keeping a positive mindset stems back to my old AAU coach, Coach B, who passed away on May 15th, 2020. You never know when it will be the last time someone you love may see you play so you always have to give it your all. Coach B taught me to always work hard and never take anything in life for granted. Coach B's mission was to help the youth which I am honored to be able to say that I do as well, in his honor. I have been helping coach younger AAU teams for the past 2 years and have also helped run many summer camps through my high school as well as my AAU club. Another way I honor Coach B and share my passion for basketball is by helping teach basketball fundamentals at local parks to younger kids for free. I strongly believe with my mindset and my skills as a bigger shooting guard as well as being able to defend all 5 positions that I could be a valuable asset to any team on and off the court. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement, I look forward to meeting you!
