I have been fortunate to be apart of a strong basketball program my freshman and sophomore years. Along with dedicated coaches and teachers my strongest influence is my father, he has taught me the qualities of hardwork and determination. He is a self made business man who has worked hard in the concrete construction field. I have witnessed first hand how this type of focus and hard work can be extremely rewarding, but it is not always an easy journey. This is the type of mindset I believe you have to have to be successful in any athletic endeavor and life.
I became interested in basketball around 2nd grade year when I joined the little league team. The things I have learned about me through playing this sport, hard work pays off,When I push myself to my absolute best I gain more confidence and I am capable of more than I thought. Perseverance also means learning that failing is part of life and practice. The biggest challenge can often be picking yourself up after failing. I am also from a very small school in Colorado. I have learned that I have to have confidence to help myself because I don’t have a lot of the advantages males from the city have. I have to create circumstance to help me improve.
