Personal Statement
As I am completing my last year in junior college, I am looking forward to being recruited to a four-year program to continue developing as a professional & player on the court and in the real world. In addition, in 2021, I received at NJCAA All-Academic basketball award, as education is very important to me as I come from a family full of college graduates.
By watching basketball at different levels of play and being coach-able, I can confidently say I have a high basketball IQ. I pride myself in playing defense for 40 minutes, getting my teammates involved, and being a three-level scorer. I am a high energy point guard, that understands how to control the tempo of the team's offense, while creating the best available plays for my team.
I am an unselfish human-being on and off the court; always looking to give someone a hand. I involve myself in community service such as volunteering hours at town fairs & basketball camps. Furthermore, I am always looking for ways to improve myself as a student, as an athlete and as a person. I transferred to Nassau Community College to allow myself to save money during the pandemic and to have the opportunity to showcase my basketball talent while representing a well-accomplished and recognized JUCO basketball program.
Throughout my basketball career (since Middle School), I've been one of the leaders, and the leading scorer on the majority of my basketball teams. In the 8th grade, I lead my school, George J Ryan Middle School, to the NYC's Public School Final Four. In the 10th grade, I led my school's (Francis Lewis High School) JV team to the NYC's PSAL Quarterfinals; the first ever JV playoff appearance in the school's history. For Varsity, I attended Putnam Science Academy where in my senior year averaged 20-5-5 while leading my team to their Conference Championship Game.
Over the last year I have recognized my talent and understood that I have complete control of my player development. As I took the 2022 summer to improve my game, training 5-6 days a week, I am confident that I can bring value to my teammates and coaching staff at the college level. As a result of this productive summer, I am now a leader of this 6-1 Nassau CC Mens Basketball Team that is one track to make a NJCAA Nationals Appearance this year!
If I can continue to help Nassau CC win games and championships, I know that I can help any four year program do the same! I am looking forward to meeting new coaches of program to find the right fit for me, so that I can assist my future college/university team in winning and have a successful four-year collegiate career.
