Jawaun Deputy '21 Recruiting Profile

Basketball is my passion. When I was 5 years old, my dad introduced me to the game in an attempt to get me active in sports. At first I tried flag football and that definitely did not work so I transitioned to basketball and ever since then I have been crazy about it! I played every year I had the opportunity. There was something about the sport that brought me a different type of joy and rush of adrenaline. These upcoming years are no different. I aspire to play and excel at the collegiate level.  There are two sides to me : the Jawaun on the court and the Jawaun off the court. The side of me on the court gives 110% pushes himself to the max enjoys helping his teammates encouraging them to go hard every day and leave everything on the court with no regrets. Everyone brings some different to the table in terms of when being on the court i think what sets me apart is im very versatile. I take pride on defense i love getting stops and creating energy and motivating my team i can shoot the 3 pointer and the mid range at a high level and can get through the lane for layups or to kick the ball out to the open man. I still like to find ways to improve and go to a higher level by perfecting my craft day by day. Off the court though beside basketball I take my academics very serious it's a must for me that has always been my priority since I wanted that chance to play at a high level at any college. Mainly because off the court that's a representation of me and how serious I take my future. I keep the same mindset with anything in life whatever you do make sure you do it right give it your all and try to learn from it the best way you can. I also take pride and trying to be a good influence to kids in terms of mentoring and trying to give them the tools and guidance that was given to me so they can also be successful confident and pursue what they love long as they work hard and stay consistent.
