Basketball has been a passion of mine since I was young, starting with a foam basketball my aunt gave me and growing as my family encouraged me to pursue the sport. My mother and aunt always supported my love for the game, and I’m grateful for their role in shaping my journey. My uncle initially encouraged soccer, but seeing my dedication, he became one of my biggest supporters, getting me the gear I needed to improve. This journey has taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of family support. Basketball isn’t just a sport to me; it’s part of who I am and how I connect with my loved ones.
On the court, I’ve learned that I’m driven by a desire to constantly improve, both physically and mentally. Every setback, whether it’s a tough loss or a bad practice, has motivated me to work harder and come back stronger. Now going into my senior year at Miami Union, a school not known for its sports programs, I’m focused on making this my best season yet. Playing as a shooting guard, I’ve found my strength in getting to my spot and excelling in catch-and-shoot situations. My biggest goal is to earn a full-ride college offer, not just for myself, but so my mom, aunt, and uncle don’t have to carry the weight of worrying about how to afford college. They have sacrificed so much for me, and I want my success to reflect their love and dedication.
Beyond the court, I’ve expanded my passion into media and photography. I currently work with Overtime, covering basketball, football, and AAU events, while also building my own photography business focused on sports, lifestyle, and portraits. These opportunities have given me a different perspective on the game I love, allowing me to tell stories through my lens while staying connected to the culture of sports. Balancing school, basketball, and media work has taught me time management, focus, and how to perform under pressure, skills I know will carry over into college.
The lessons I’ve learned, resilience, work ethic, and creativity, have shaped me into more than just a basketball player. As I step into my senior year, I am determined to push myself further both on and off the court. My ultimate goal is to represent my family’s sacrifices by earning the opportunity to continue my education and basketball career at the next level, while contributing positively to my future college community.
