Kyle Taylor '23 Recruiting Profile

I’ve been playing basketball competitively ever since I was 7. Basketball is and will always be my passion. I love the game with all my heart, and it has been my dream to play at the college level since I was young. Playing college basketball is my ultimate goal and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to someday get there. Over the past decade I’ve learned what it means to be a teammate, a captain, and someone who can lead their group to whatever they set their minds to. When my dad left me, my mom, and my two sisters to live on our own, I learned what being the man of the family really is, and it gave me the motivation to propel me forward and turn my game up. Ever since he’s been gone, I have played with even more passion and determination to succeed. I want to show everyone that trials and difficult situations can be life lessons that help us grow into better men on and off the court. 

What I bring to the table is rare amongst most players built like me. I can shoot the ball anywhere on the court, my specialty is driving to the hoop and always finding a way to score, and I can rebound like no tomorrow. Since my dad left 2 years ago, I have played 2 seasons of basketball, in which I scored a total of 1,101 points over 53 games including a career high 40-point game. I helped lead my team reach the Final Four for the first time since our school won the championship over 5 years ago. There is a fire in me that ignites when the referee blows his whistle, and a game begins. I love to score, and I love making big-time plays. My teammates will always be my best friends and Jesus will always be the One who gifted me with my athletic talents. I've been a straight A student all the way through high school, and I am continually striving to do better academically. I know I have what it takes to play at the next level, and I'd love to get the chance to prove it!
