My first year of High School basketball was a new experience for me moving from center, and power forward, to a guard position. This change however has allowed me to become a more versatile player on offense and defense. As a freshman, I played on the sophomore level for the most part and got experience playing on the Varsity level as well. However, I think I took a big leap in my sophomore year to be a Varsity player, getting a lot of minutes on one of the better teams in Illinois. I became a starter in my junior year, carrying more of the load for my team and taking the game winning shots in regionals as well as the last shot in sectionals with 6.7secs left on the clock to qualify for Super-Sectionals. Unfortunately, we lost after a double OT in Super-Sectionals, but I am grateful that it was a great season for our school's basketball team. I got a chance to be a part of the Elite 8 in 3A to play against a lot of highly skilled basketball players and have only gotten better from it.
I am growing as a leader and becoming someone my coaches and teammates can look for and depend on, in very competitive games as a closer to finish games under pressure on both my High School and AAU Teams. I am generally a calm person that does not get easily rattled under pressure so I enjoy playing in high intensity games where I can help my team remain focused to finish games. I am looking forward to taking my game to the next level with a key role on Varsity as a senior this year.
I continue to learn and improve my game and feel that I will be great for any college program willing to give me an opportunity to work, to become the best student-athlete I am confident I can be.
