Gavin Szerlong '25 Recruiting Profile

Growing up I always loved basketball, after Derek Rose won his MVP in 2011, I wanted to follow in his footsteps more than anything. This set a new mentality in for me as I grinded on and off the court 7 days a week to become the best possible player. Growing up no one thought I was going to be able to play sports due to my lack of athleticism and being slow, that's why I work so hard, to prove them wrong, while considering myself a student-athlete, the student comes first and that's why I value my education very much. This was hard as nothing I have accomplished has been given to me as I have worked very hard on the court and in the classroom to be where I am now.
