My name is David Amaeze and I am currently seventeen, in the class of 2019. I have been playing basketball for 10 years now. I know that due to my nationality it will be hard for you to consider my request, bearing in mind you have other applicants who started the process in the 9th grade.
Considering me over other recognized prospects would be inconsiderate and a serious gamble, but if I am granted the opportunity to try out and hopefully play for you, I could bring strength defensively and speed and intensity offensively.
In terms of skills athleticism, I consider myself to be a very good ball handler, as I play point guard position, but I am hoping that great coaches recruit me so that I can become stronger in that aspect of basketball, and in other fundamental aspects. I also see myself as a very athletic person, which I hand to the 1 year of experience I have in athletics. I competed in long jump, 100m and 200m.
All I want is a chance to try out for the team to show how well I can play and how apt my basketball IQ is. Outside of basketball, I am taking my A levels. In the U.S.A, it is a higher academic qualification than SAT's which are like GCSE's in the UK. On the Fulbright scholarship program, I found the international GPA equivalent chart, with it, I plan to use it to map my GPA with my A - levels, then confirm it with my school. With this academic qualification, I hope to study pharmacy/pharmacology or biochemistry in a highly competitive university as a student-athlete.
I know my ambitions look unorthodox, because of my circumstance, but I am a person who likes to take their chances and try. That will be useful to the team if you accept me, because my persistence and practice on the court will make me one of the best players on your team. I guarantee it. Talent isn't enough; if you have no drive and no will there is no point in playing because you are not giving a 100%. That is what I believe.
